Ticket (Bogestra) - Deutschlandticket School

The discounted student ticket (currently: DeutschlandTicket Schule) is valid for eligible students throughout Germany on local public transportation in second class. It entitles the holder to unlimited travel both to school and for leisure activities. There are no time restrictions (use during school breaks, on weekends, and on holidays).

 

Eligibility Requirements

As a general rule, students must attend a public school.

The city of Bochum covers the transportation costs for these students if the shortest walking distance to the nearest school

• in grades 1 through 4, longer than 2 km,

• in grades 5 through 10, longer than 3.5 km, and

• is more than 5 km away from the high school or Berufskolleg.

The nearest school is the one that can be reached at the lowest cost and with a reasonable amount of time.

 

Co-payment

The City of Bochum has set a co-payment for the use of this ticket. This co-payment amounts to:

  • 14.00 euros per month for the first child,

  • 7.00 euros per month for the second child,

  • No copayment is charged for the third eligible child and beyond.

For students of legal age, a separate monthly co-payment of 14.00 euros is set.

This co-payment must be paid directly to BoGeStra (Bochum-Gelsenkirchen Tramway Co.).

Nicht anspruchsberechtigte Schüler*innen (Selbstzahler) haben die Möglichkeit, das Schülerticket (aktuell: DeutschlandTicket Schule) zum Preis von derzeit 38,00 Euro monatlich im Abonnement bei der BoGeStra zu erwerben.

No entitlement

Students in the following types of schools are not eligible:

  • Evening School

  • colleague

  • Part-time vocational school, with the exception of district-level specialized classes

  • Technical High School Classes 12B/13

 

Application

  • You can apply for a discounted student ticket (currently: DeutschlandTicket Schule) online via the school portal or filled out by hand and must be signed by the parents or legal guardians.

  • The signed application must then be submitted to the school office.

  • Attendance at the school is verified by the school office with an official school stamp.

  • The school forwards the application to the School Administration Office for processing.

The general legal basis is the Regulation Implementing Section 97(4) of the School Act (Regulation on Student Transportation Costs – SchfkVO).
