The district is responsible for a total of 81 schools in Bochum—including 43 Grundschulen, 2 Hauptschulen, 5 Realschulen, 2 Sekundarschulen, 5 Gesamtschulen, 10 Gymnasien, 5 Berufskollegs, 1 Weiterbildungskolleg, 7 Förderschulen, and 1 Klinikschule. • Human Resources and Financial Management:The office plans and manages non-teaching staff positions, handles personnel matters, and allocates budgetary funds. It monitors finances and ensures that funds are used in accordance with needs.

• Objective administration:This includes the provision of teaching materials, the implementation of free school supplies, and the procurement of furniture, technology, and other equipment.

• Organization and School Development Planning:Demographic trends are analyzed, school locations are planned, and school development initiatives are implemented. The goal is to provide a sustainable school system that is accessible to local residents.

• Digitalization:The IT Services for Schools division is responsible for establishing digital infrastructure, implementing media development plans, and assisting schools with their technical equipment.

• School transportation:The office organizes transportation services, processes applications for student passes (such as the DeutschlandTicket Schule), and coordinates student transportation in close cooperation with schools and transportation companies.

• School Supervision and Counseling:The School Office, as part of the School Administration Office, is responsible for elementary, secondary, and Förderschulen. It performs lower-level school oversight functions and assists schools in implementing educational goals. Technical oversight is the responsibility of the Arnsberg District Government.

Organization of the Office

The School Administration Office (City Office 40) is divided into two main departments:

Department of Education (40/1):
Responsible for school development planning, educational networks, the Regional Education Office, Family Elementary School Centers, Full-day programs, Student BAföG and the School District Office.

• Administration Department (40/2):Responsible for finance, procurement, student transportation, occupational safety, IT services, human resources, administration, and school offices. This department also oversees major digitalization projects.
